neoCLIP  Troubleshooting

          Launching the Application

2-1

After launching neoCLIP, "!" appears on the neoCLIP task tray indicator and the application fails.

  1. Is your drive supported by neoCLIP?
If uncertain, check the drive support on the product information page.
  2. Is your drive recognized in the Explorer or the Device Manager?
If not, you cannot use neoCLIP. Verify all drive connections. If the drive is still not recognized in the Explorer or the Device Manager, confirm the drive's functionality with the manufacturer.
  3. If your drive is recognized in the Explorer or the Device Manager and you cannot use neoCLIP, there may be a problem with the ASPI Manager. Click on your system for instructions on how to check the ASPI Manager: Windows 95/98/Me, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP.

The system hangs during startup at the neoCLIP logo stage, even when using a supported drive on my PC.

neoCLIP verifies all connected drives during the launch process. If it freezes at this point, neoCLIP cannot verify the drives properly. Please check the following:

  1. Is your drive recognized in the Explorer or the Device Manager?
If not, you cannot use neoCLIP. Verify all drive connections. If the drive is still not recognized in the Explorer or the Device Manager, contact the manufacturer telling them that the drive is not being recognized by the Explorer or the Device Manager.

  2. Quit all running applications.
neoCLIP may not launch properly if other programs are running when it launches. Make sure that neoCLIP is the only program that launches when starting up your PC.
    • Windows 98/98 SE/Me/XP Users:
Select [Start] -> [Run]. Input [msconfig] in [Open], then click OK. Select the [Startup] tab on the System Configuration Utility window. Leave the [System Tray] and [neoCLIP] items checked and uncheck the rest.
    • Windows 2000 Users:
There is no msconfig window in Windows 2000, so quit all the running programs one by one, or uninstall them before trying again.
  3. Is your drive connected via an UltraATA board?
If so, neoCLIP may fail to launch if the board uses an unsupported bus-mastering driver. Even when you have an UltraATA board installed and the drives are only connected to the SCSI port, neoCLIP may fail if the board uses an unsupported driver, because neoCLIP verifies all boards when launching. Check the update history on the Download page for more information on supporting UltraATA boards.

Note: The above error also occurs when RAID boards are connected to your PC.

[Windows 2000 & XP] When I try to launch the software, a blue screen appears for an instant, then Windows restarts automatically.

There may be a conflict between driver files when launching the software causing the blue screen to appear.

The cause of this problem can be deduced by the error that appears when the blue screen appears. Windows is configured to automatically restart when the blue screen appears, so you cannot confirm the error message.

Use the following method to confirm the error that is causing the blue screen to appear. Contact Support with the details of the error message, so we can help you solve the problem. Note: Support does not provide telephone support.

  1. Right click on [My Computer] icon on the desktop, then select [Properties] from the contextual pop-up menu. (You can also open the same window by double clicking on the [System] icon in [Control Panel].)
  2. Click the [Advanced] tab of the System Properties window.
  3. Click the [Settings] button under "Startup and Recovery".
  4. Disable (uncheck) the "Automatically restart" option under "System failure".
  5. Click [OK].
  6. Try launching the application again. If the blue screen appears, take a note of the error message that appears, like the examples below.

    Example 1:
    dvd_2k.sys Pagefault in nonpage area
