          Installation & Uninstallation

I cannot click the [Next] button to input my serial number; it seems to be disabled. Or I cannot continue installing; the message "The serial number is wrong" appears after clicking [Next].

• You must complete all the user information fields, including [Corporation], before installation can continue. If you are not using the software in a business, please enter "Self" in the [Corporation] field.
• Use only capital letters when entering the serial number.
• Verify that you have not used letters instead of numbers (i.e. "0" instead of a zero, "I" instead of number one, etc.).

I get the following message when I'm installing neoCLIP:
”A third-party writing software or packet writing software driver is already installed on this computer. Please remove the "Cdr4vsd.vxd" file from the "Windows folder\System folder\Iosubsys" folder using the Explorer.]”

You may have other third-party writing software or packet-writing software installed on your PC. Move the file to another location on your hard drive (or onto the Desktop), then try installing neoCLIP again.

neoCLIP may not run properly on a PC with other writing software or packet-writing software installed, so we recommend you uninstall them.

What is the DVD-RAM driver option on the neoCLIP installation window?

This driver allows you to format, switch on/off write protect and do a dust check on DVD-RAM discs.

I cannot install the updater I downloaded from the MedioStream Website.

  1. The updater is damaged.
The updater may have been damaged while it was being downloaded. Clear your browser's cache and download the updater again.
  2. neoCLIP was damaged after it was installed.
We recommend you reinstall neoCLIP after checking the file system with Scan Disk.
  3. You have the wrong updater.
The updater you require varies according to the version of neoCLIP you have installed. Check that the version of neoCLIP you are using is supported by the updater you downloaded.

I already have neoCLIP installed on my computer. Do I need to install the neoCLIP program that came with neoRECORDER?

[Windows 2000 & XP Users]
You do not need to install the neoCLIP program that came with neoRECORDER.

[Windows 98 SE & Me Users]
If you have updated neoCLIP to the latest version, you do not need to install the neoCLIP program that came with neoRECORDER. If you have not updated neoCLIP to the latest version, we recommend you install the neoCLIP program that came with neoRECORDER.

If the version of neoRECORDER did not come with neoCLIP and you are using Windows 98 SE or Me, download the latest version of neoCLIP from the Updater page.

When installing neoCLIP, I get an error message telling me that it is an invalid process.

One of the drivers installed on your computer maybe the cause of the problem. Try the following method to install neoCLIP on your computer.

  1. Create a folder on the drive (or desktop) and copy the neoCLIP installation files into that folder.
  2. Restart Windows in Safe Mode.
    • [Windows 98/98 SE/Me Users]
Open [Run] in the [Start] menu. Input "msconfig" and click [OK]. The System Configuration Utility window appears. Enable [Enable Startup Menu] under [Advanced], then click [OK]. Restart the computer. (Or, hold the [Ctrl] key when starting up the computer. Select [Safe Mode] on the screen that appears.
    • [Windows 2000/XP Users]
Press the [F8] key when starting up the computer and select [Safe Mode] from the menu that appears.
  3. Once Windows is running, run the installation program you copied in step 1 above.
  4. Restart the computer once neoCLIP is installed. Under Windows 98/98 SE/Me, revert the startup settings as desired.

I cannot download the updater.

Try one of the following suggested fixes.

  1. Download the updater at a different time.
If you are trying to download the updater at the same time of day every time, there may be too many users trying to download the updater at the same time, hence slowing down the download or denying access to it. Try again at another time of day.
  2. Clear the browser cache.
    • Internet Explorer Users: Open [Internet Options] in the [Tool] menu, then delete the temporary files.
    • Netscape Users: Select [Preferences] in the [Edit] menu, and clear the cache under [History].
  3. If you are connected to the Internet using a proxy server, try downloading the updater without using the proxy server setting.

If the updater was not downloaded properly into the proxy server cache, no matter how many times you try to download it, you will be downloading the same file from the proxy server cache without solving the problem. You could try clearing the cache as in 2 above, but this does not clear the proxy server cache. This can only be done by the provider or administrator. To download the updater without going through the proxy server, disable the proxy server settings using one of the following methods for your browser.

  • Internet Explorer Users: Open [Internet Options] in the [Tool] menu, then click the [LAN Settings] button under the [Connection] tab. Disable the "Use a proxy server" option under [Proxy server].
  • Netscape Users: Select [Preferences] in the [Edit] menu, and open [Advanced] -> [Proxies] under [Category]. Enable the "Direct connection to the Internet" option.

When downloading the updater, I have a choice to [Open] or [Save]. Is it safe to select [Open]?

We recommend you select [Save] and save the updater onto your hard drive. If you select [Open], you may encounter data transfer problems over the Internet and local network and the program may not be updated properly.
